Abducted Ithaca woman killed in Virginia shootout, police say TRIANGLE, Va. (AP/WETM) — A woman who police say was abducted by her child's father from her New York home has died following a shootout with police on the side of a northern Virginia highway.The man who allegedly abducted her was also shot and suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. After the shootout, police found the woman dead outside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. According to New York State Police, her cause of death is under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Heroic actions by DGS employees save over a dozen in Grand St. fire ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Wednesday's fire on Grand Street in Albany caused 15 people to lose their homes. No one was injured though, thanks to the work of some brave employees at the Department of General Services. “By the time we turned the corner the fire was all the way up, it was like a chain reaction so fast," Kenneith Carter said.
